Privacy

What this site collects, which is not much, and what happens to it.

The short version

This is a personal site. There are no accounts, no forms that store anything, no advertising networks and no cookies set by the site itself. Two privacy-respecting analytics tools count visits so I can see which pages are read and what people search for. Nothing here identifies you, and nothing is sold or shared.

Analytics

Plausible counts page views without cookies and without storing anything on your device. It is hosted in the EU and does not track you across other websites.

PostHog records page views and the site's own events, such as a search term typed into the Iainwhoo? box, so I can see what people were looking for and whether they found it. It runs in memory only: it stores nothing on your device, so every visit counts as a new person and there is no cookie banner because there are no cookies. Data is held on PostHog's EU servers. Session recording is off.

Both tools see the usual technical details a browser sends with any request — IP address, browser type, screen size, referring page. Neither is used to build a profile of you. Search terms are recorded as typed (capped in length), so it's a site search, not a confessional.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare keeps standard server logs for security and performance, underits own privacy policy.

Links to other sites

The Bookshelf uses Amazon affiliate links, marked as such. If you buy something through one, Amazon pays me a small commission at no cost to you; what Amazon does with your visit is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not this one. Links to the app stores, LinkedIn, GitHub, Instagram, Strava and Buy Me a Coffee likewise take you to those services and their rules.

The Tour de Toon

The cycling pages publish my own ride data and nobody else's. Reports carry a date but never a time of day, no coordinates are published, and route profiles are trimmed at both ends on top of Strava's privacy zones. Other athletes are never named.
